Concerned about peace and war in the new millennium ? Like to discuss ideas with others without having to drive to a classroom? Then consider participating in a free, experimental online Training offered via the Internet. It is a pilot module of a course, " The Millennium: Envisioning Alternative Futures for you and Your World. "
GOALS
* You will clarify the strategies for peace you recommend for your country and the world. * You will plan ways you can contribute to those strategies. * You will send your recommendations to leaders.
The Content
This discussion is about one central question :
"How can we make the world more peaceful?"
Keep looking for answers to that question in every thing you do in the discussion.
* You will read Keeping the Peace in an Age of Conflict, and discuss four strategies often proposed for how the Country should deal with foreign conflicts. This will be the core of the discussion for most participants.But you may also choose the supplementary or alternative activities below, according to your interests.You may choose to do supplementary readings on alternative views of the threats and the strategies, from the packet of reading materials provided, or from your own sources. You may choose activities to consider the links between strategies for resolving inter-personal conflict and strategies for addressing international conflict. You may choose activities designed for children and families. You will share your own ideas via the online discussions.You will draw on what you think are the best ideas to design your own strategy for a more peaceful world.
